This Ghost Chips A Tooth

I write this entry just after arriving home from Ortigas. It’s interesting today coz I get to go out of the house again and walk around the city with my sisters. Beats staying at home and FB-ing. Yes, Facebook, I’ve found something better to do today. :D

Woke up just as Ate Jing was about to leave for work. I turned around my top-bunk bed to face her and tell her, “Ate, mapa-SM kita ninda Dith da na hapon. Upudan niyo ako magbakal polo, para di na kita magluwas sa aga.”
I was still half-asleep then, and I was slurring my words between jaw-cracking yawns. A wonder how she still understood me. “Amu, itext mo na lang si Dith,” (Okay, just text Dith) she said. “Magdara ka da kuwarta.” (And bring some cash with you)
And then I blinked, fell asleep again and woke up at 9am.
i did the usual morning habits. FB-ed, then force-fed myself into eating lunch. Canned tuna paella, yummy. XP Kinda grossed me out a bit coz it looks like…well, I still ate it though.
Actually, it’s okay-tasting.
I was home alone all morning and afternoon.
Back to Tumblr to write about my parents, examined myself in the mirror and told myself that I should get enough sleep, realized that I was late for my lakad to Ortigas so I threw on whatever clothing I could reach.
Ride, ride, walk, walk until I met with Ate Jing at PowerBooks. Wandered around looking for the baller ID my Kuya wanted (big basketball fan, my brother) found nothing, a stop to NBS to check out their book SALE while we waited for Ate Dith.
She arrived minutes later, and I bought a P99 Stephanie Plum novel by Janet Evanovich. “Finger Lickin’ Fifteen” was the title. Was happy to buy it. :D
On to Sbarro for dinner and just as I was finishing my pasta, came this strange feeling in my mouth, as if something hard was stuck in my teeth. Turns out I chipped a small bit of tooth (a barely noticeable one, though, when I checked it out in the mirror). I ran my tongue around it and it just about drove me crazy. But no worries there, I was just about to go to Ate Dith’s dentist friend anyway. We were thinking of getting adult braces for me.
Anyway, I thought it possible that I swallowed the chipped part (without me, the glutton, noticing) and was being digested somewhere down there as we speak, along with the chocolate calzone I had for dessert.
Department store mode where we looked around for affordable yet awesome-looking polo shirts. Found one in gray and white stripes and another one in muted silver (in other words, gray, lol).
Of course, both clothes looked good on me when I tried it on. XD

Better Ghost Than Yesterday

Was relieved that MY MOMENT OF SHEER AWKWARDNESS at Wow Maliprobably wasn’t aired the other night. See, last week Thursday, I had this interview with 3i about that content editor job at Reuters (I already mentioned it last time) and it was about 12nn and I was walking down those metal steps at the Quezon Ave overpass when I saw this camera crew hanging around the 7-Eleven store.
I thought I’d just walk to the side so I wouldn’t disturb whatever it is their filming there. I figured it was a news thing and they’re using the overpass as the background. So I walked over to the left, out of camera sight when this short woman hurried over and shoved a mic at me.
No way, I thought, shaking my head to the woman. I don’t have time for this.
I was meeting my Tita Bing at Ayala so we could look for the 3i building together.
“Mabilis lang ‘to, sir,” (Just a minute) she said. I thought she looked kinda familiar. But then she launched into a question about Michael Jackson’s death. In my head I was having a say-what moment coz Michael Jackson was like dead for a year now. Why’s this reporter asking me about—
And then I figured, oh maybe it’s his death anniversary or something. So I answered the question, blah blah blah, coz I already forgot what I said. And then: “Kung nasa harap mo siya ngayon, anong sasabihin mo?” (If MJ's here right now, what'll say to him?)
Say what?

The Cooped Ghost

I wish I could say that staying at home all day was fun. But it’s sooo not.
Woke up feeling blergh. I slept very, very late—the bloodshot eyes, crick in the neck kind of late— and believe me, it wasn’t good. I miss the good ole days when 9pm was considered past my bedtime. Damn FB and Tumblr, the sites froze me into submission until 2am.
Anyway, I did my usual walk round and round the dining table; it’s just something I do when I’m thinking or listening to music. Then I ate my breakfast, bathed and gasped, “Shit!” when the water pouring from the faucet was dark brown. I despaired that I might’ve swallowed some of it.
FB mode until lunch at 12:30pm. Watched a bit of Eat Bulaga (what, it’s a good show!) then straight to the laptop to write my Tumblr post— Day One, this thing about your friends. Just online mode: games, blogging, huffy-watching the whole afternoon.
Thinking twice whether to watch Wow Mali tonight. Oh well.

This Ghost Has High Hopes

Woke up from a good night’s sleep. I was excited to register our SmartBro to UNLISURF and go crazy online on Facebook, visit my games, download music, watch MVs and watch…some interesting movies. ;D

Then I set up this Tumblr account, a blog/online journal. I’ve always wanted to have a journal in like, forever. Years ago, I’d be writing all about me and my day in one of those thick hardcover notebooks with the cool lock. Inside, I’d write whatever the hell I want, draw, and put in my deepest darkest secrets. THAT never happened. First off, I’d get tired maintaining the thing after three entries. Second, writing by hand was B-O-R-I-N-G. Third, what was the point in writing if nobody was allowed to read it?

Hence, an online diary in Tumblr! Yey!

I saw this really nice 30 Days, 30 Letters in a Facebook note by Jev. Basically, everyday you’d be writing about one of the 30 topics in there. That seemed like a good start to maintain and still get interested in my Tumblr. Thanks for the A-okay, Jev! :D

I spent the whole morning in FB, so engrossed on what I missed that weekend that I forgot to do my laundry. So I did that, took a shower and because I was starving, ate lunch. I didn’t get to show off my culinary skills since Kuya Marvin, my cousin already cooked. Which was just as well coz the last time I worked the stove, I barely recognized the chicken hotdog after I was done frying it. XD

Anyway, after lunch I was texting Jonalyn (the mermaid who’s now Budyong EIC) while I listened to my playlist. She told me Patrixia Santos, this local beauty queen/BU student I knew back when I was still in college was hit by a motorcycle. I told her, “Di na safe ang mga taga-BU ah, kadamu naaaksidente or nakukulugan.” And the mermaid agreed with me.
Then, I said maybe I won’t be able to visit her and the others at BU when I get home in September for my niece’s 1st birthday. We’ll be in Bicol only two days at least and then it’s back to Manila and job hunting (or hopefully, settling into REAL work) for me.

Jonalyn replied instantly in her typical way: “Huh? Nakay di ka makakadi? Anu man yan? Magkadi ka! Eh di magpawalat ka. Duh. Makasolo ka man pa-Manila.”

I have to smile. It’s good to be missed. :D

This Ghost Takes an Exam

I was pissed. My exam at SENCOR was at 9:30am and the traffic was capital C-Crazy because of the SONA. I was fuming and muttering, “SONA-mabitch” under my breath until I got to the MRT station in Kamuning. After a lot of walking involved, I finally reached the Insular Life building where the SENCOR offices were located. Thankfully, nobody there commented on me being late. :D

I did the exam and after being assured of a call about the results, I high-tailed it outta there, feeling sunny and light. I went to Greenbelt, visited PowerBooks, NBS, and the Power Mac store. The Mac store was awesome; I was drooling all over the iPods and laptops there. I really wish I have ONE OF THOSE!!

Before I put it in my head to steal one, I proceeded to the Ayala station to board the train. I made a wrong turn and instead ended up in Taft (clumsy guy, sorry), whereas I had to get on the train again. I decided to stop in Cubao and wander around Gateway. Then, I treated myself to a DQ Blizzard (chocolate truffle) and then went home after buying this cool P99 Stephanie Plum novel on sale at the main National Book Store.

This Ghost Screws Up A Job Opp

I was running busy, and that involved waking up before dawn. Since I was ‘lamaw’ boy the past year, the waking-up-early part was hard. I was contacted by the 3i headhunters in Makati and they were looking for fresh graduates to refer to Thomson Reuters for the content editor position. So I hustled over to 3i, saw Mr. Gremil Naz there, though he didn’t see me, and then got briefly interviewed.

The 3i guy who interviewed me (who, by the way asked me about my thesis so suddenly I was stunned into a “say-what?” moment) then scheduled me for an exam at the Reuters office at McKinley Hill in Taguig the following day. To make the story short, I got to Reuters about fifteen minutes late, made a small stupid slip during the exam and was asked to leave. The HR told me they’d call me if I got a positive feedback. Yeah, right.

The small mistake was actually my fault; but that didn’t mean I have to like it.

It all happened so fast that by the time Reuters’ door slammed shut behind me I was still thinking, “WTF?” I chewed the entire thing over on the bus ride home; beating myself up, defending myself at the same time, allowing myself some much-deserved self-pity and then deciding to get over it.

Not so easy. I wasn’t over it until the next day, when I could finally laugh about it without the accompanying bitterness. (A good thing God decided to give me something else because fifteen minutes after arriving home that Friday, I got a call from SENCOR in Makati about an exam for the copy editor position. I was due Monday.) :D
